Bad lenses can cause eye strain, reflections and headache when you wear them for hours. Of course we all have different taste, but patterns still appear in long discussions. They are simply the ones that fit well and survive many rounds of washing or daily use.
If anyone is interested in real user experiences, I sometimes write short notes about the shops I test.

For daily use items I try to balance price, build quality and real user feedback. At least here we can see more honest opinions and not only polished marketing content. When a store shows clear shoulder width, bust, waist and length, it is much easier to choose. If a deal looks too good to be true, it usually has some kind of catch. I also check if the lenses have any blue light filter or anti-reflection coating. Footwear is even harder because different brands cut shoes very differently. I try to balance my budget between basic everyday items and a few special pieces. Forums, blogs and communities create a kind of collective memory for shoppers.
Hope this helps someone.
